I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter
you. of the 13th of October, No.44874/1925, transmitting certain
recommendations from the Government of Hongkong, regarding
the procedure to be followed in advertising posts in the
service of that Colony. We observe that the Government of
Hongkong propose to extend very much the information
published regarding appointments, and to express in a
different manner to heretofore, the exchange value of the
dollar as applied to sterling salaries.

Although we are desirous of complying with the
requirements of the Colonial Government we would point out
that the charges for advertisements are calculated on the
number of words which they contain and already, owing to
their length, our advertisements regarding Hongkong appoint-
ments cost considerably more than those published concerning appointments in other Colonies. Copies of two advertise- ments published in six papers during the last few months regarding two posts, one in Hongkong and one in Kenya Colony
