Notwithstanding the demonstrations which have been arranged throughout Russis in sympathy with the anti-foreign movement in China, there is not complete agreement on this question among the leading Communists. There is a consider able body of opinion, said to be sup- ported by Krassin, in favour of caution! and of weighing the consequences to Soviet Russia of antagonizing the Japanese and British and other nations. Stalin bas described this "harmful move- ment within the party" as a new Com- munist nationalism which ignores the fact that the Soviet Union of Republics is a mere part of the general revolutionary movement. He urges his comrades to realize that to place their own country's comparatively narrow interests higher than the interests of the general revolu- tion is not compatible with their prin- ciples.
