These four had been captured in Kwai Choi Village. Another prisoner with them was a deserter from Chen Chung Ming's army.

The other 12 prisoners were robbers or pirates who had been captured at 0400 this morning in Fan Lo Kong Village. These prisoners were taken out and pho to graphed by the Asst. Supt. Police and the Military Officer. They are being sent to Wai Choll for trial and will probably be sent back to Bias Bay for execution. The General showed us one casualty his forces had sustained during the raid on Fan Lo Kong Village; the police offered to take him back to Hong Kong for treatment, but this was refused. We next went to Fan Lo Kong to see the Chinese who had been killed. His name is Chan Shui Wai, a noted pirate who took part in the "Hydrangea",

'Suming", and "Sui An" piracies.

We then went to Kwai Choi Island to burn the house of the "Hong Hwa" pirates we had captured. The villagers seemed very much upset at our arrival. Very few men were visible, the women lamented loudly during the burning. We then embarked in a junk for the "St.Monance' and sailed for Hong Kong at 1445.
