MINUTES

I went out to see Mr.Collins about

thie yesterday afternoon and on his

instructions I rang up Sir Newton Stabb who

had already inquired by telephone what was

being done about this matter. I explained to

Sir Newton Stabb that the £3,000,000 which has

been promised to Hong Kong will be made up as

follows:

From the Straits Settlements

From the Hongkong and

Shanghai Bank

From the West African

£500,000

Currency Board (if necessary)

I then read this telegram to Sir

Newton Stabb and told him (after explaining

that it is necessary for the loan to be

expressed in sterling and not in dollars) that

the Crown Agents were being asked to instruct

the Bank of England to transfer a alam of

£600,000 (which is roughly the equivalent of

WL 17813/38 Gp. 140 50000 12.24 W & S Ltd.
