Sir.
I have laid before the Lords Commissioners
of His Majesty's Treasury Mr.Grindle's letter of
the 31st January last (45489/1921), relative to
the method of accounting for returned Public Worke
Department stores in Hongkong.
In reply I am to request you to inform Hr.
Secretary Churchill that My Lords agree that the
proceeds resulting from the sale of returned stores
in the circumstances described, being derived from
the realisation of capital assets originally pur-
chased out of revenue assessed for military contri-
bution, should be credited to a separate head of
revenue which shall be exempt from assessment for
military contribution.
I am,
etc.,
(Signed)
G.L.BARSTOW.
