the ridge overlooking the Lin Ma Hang Gap, from where they saw a party of about 12 Strikers escorting 3 or 4 prisoners up the Gap Road. The prisoners appeared to have their hands tied to their sides and could scarcely walk. Owing to their position on the opposite side of the raving, the police officers saw it would be impossible to interoept the strikers. Darkness was quickly coming
on, and, as the two officers steed looking at the Strikers, a shet was fired by the latter, the bullet passing between the Lance Sergeant Clarke at once
opened fire with the Thompson Gun and Lance Sergeant Knowles with his rifle. Four of the Strikers were seen
to drop, including a man dressed in a while jacket and
dark trousers, who appeared to the leader. It then
became too dark, so beth the police officers considered
it futile to remain longer, and both returned back
te station.
Wothing further has so far been heard as
to what casualties were suffered by the Strikers, or what became of their prisoners who probably were the
captured railway employees.
