Dear Edgeumbe,
I have shown the First Lord the telegram from the Governor of Hong Kong. The latter was perhaps not aware when he wrote it that the cruiser "Concord" was arriving at Hong Kong on the following day to relieve the "Diomede". There is also the "Cairo" on her way from the East Indies to relieve the "Brisbane" and we have just despatched the "Hermes" (Aircraft Carrier) to the China Station as the most convenient form of reinforcement.
I do not think it is necessary for you to notify the Governor, as he will no doubt learn all details of Naval
movements from the Commodore at Hong Kong.
