The magistrates in awarding any punishment of flogging for any such crime shall have the same powers as the Supreme Court has in regard to flogging for any crime made punishable under section 4 of the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance, 1900, under the provisions of the Flogging Ordinance, 1903.
2. Whenever it is proved to the satisfaction of a magistrate, that any printing- press, machine, tool, instrument, type, block, paper, material or thing has after the 21st day of June, 1925, in any manner, been used or prepared for use for, or in or in connexion with the printing or production of any newspaper, book, placard, pamphlet, document, writing, or pictorial representation containing any seditious matter as defined in the Seditious Publications Ordinance, 1914, it shall be lawful for such magistrate, upon the application of the Captain Superintendent of Police or some person authorised by him, to order such printing-press, machine, tool, instrument, type, block, paper, material or thing to be forfeited to the Crown, whether any person has been charged or convicted or may hereafter be charged or convicted of any offence in connexion therewith, or not.

A BILL
Objects and Reasons.
The object of this Bill is to provide for the postponement of the date of the June settlement from the 23rd day of June, and to validate, notwithstanding such postponement every contract for the purchase or sale of shares for the June settlement day and every contrnet for the carrying over of shares until the June settlement day "The Bill also provides for the payment of interest at the rate of 8% per annum, during such period of postponement, in respect of every sum of money due and payabte under the above contracts on June Bottlement day.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the June Settlement Ordinance, 1925.
2. In this Ordinance,—
(a) "June settlement day" means the 23rd day of
June, 1925.
(b) "Shares" include any shares in any stocks or funds transferable at the Bank of England or at the Bank of Ireland, and India promissory notes, and any bonds or debentures and any shares in the stocks or funds of any foreign or colonial state or government, or in the capital, stock or funded debt of any county council,
