I understand that Mr. D. Eland Wood is applying
for the Library Assistantship, which you are nowadvertis- ing. I have much pleasure in supporting Mr.
application. He was an articled pupil of my own,
Wood's
and from the Library of this Society proceeded to the
University of London, where he has done excellent
work. Mr. Wood was educated at Dulwich College,
Classical Side, and brought to me very warm commend-
ation from his former masters. I do not think that
I know any young man so well qualified as Mr. Wood, for the post he seeks, or one I could more warmly
recommend. He is a gentleman and most industrious
and painstaking, and I may add, exceptionally intelligent.
As an old Liverpool man, it would be specially gratifying to me to know that one of my own pupila
was doing service in the University.
