Sir,

I have the honour to report that the

appointment of Sir R. E. Pollock, K.C., to act as Attorney

General has left vacant the seat of the representative of

the Justices of the Peace on the Legislative Council.

Necessary steps were taken for the election

of a successor and Mr. Chaloner Grenville Alabaster, K.C., O.B.E., was the only candidate nominated. I have, therefore appointed him, provisionally and subject to His Majesty's pleasure, temporarily to be an Unofficial Member of the

Council.

Mr. Alebaster has on several occasions been

an Unofficial Member of the Council.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient humble servent,

Chustivem

Officer Administering the Government.
