My dear Ad810,
Many thanks for your letter of April 4th about
the Canton-Kowloon Railway.
I quite agree that the present destruction and
chaos are deplorable, and of course if you or the Hong-
Kong Government can make any suggestions for putting an
end to them, we shall be glad to consider then here in a
sympathetic spirit.
I notice that in your letter to Masterton-
Smith you say that "it seems a pity that the line should
"be utterly wrecked for lask of some small reinforcement
"of the present Railway Police". I don't know what
polios the railway has, but of course, no Chinese
