I am sorry Colonel Amory is a cause of nuisance and others being nuisances in connection with my office, but I hope that you will understand that the position is no doubt that the members of Council do want me to stay here. I should be happy to do so, but I am in other hands and do not wish to make a fuss about that.
The difficulty is a personal one for me. I want to grant myself a chance to get home for a while each year to look after my boys. My wife's health has never recovered from overwork in Ceylon during the war, and our relations are not much help. My mother has come out since last May, and if I can get home...
