3.7.1.
Dear Mr. Thomas,
You are probably aware that considerable uneasiness has been aroused by reports of une¬tisfactory nonditions rel¬ting to social hygiene in the British Crown Colonies, particularly in Hong Kong and the Straits Settlements,
Peolin' that it is not altogether desri¬ble to raise technical matters of this kind by Parliamentary questions in the House of Cormons, we should much appreciate it if you would allow us to meet you 98 annll deputation, to lay
before you proposals which, if adopted, wouli, we think, tend
to allay publio unansiness, and which might niɛo be of expert
opinion.
The sapenta o social hygiene to which we specially
refer are:- provision for maternity and infant welfare;
the position of the "ui tani: facilities for the trentment
of tuberculosis; the ayetem of tolerated brothels and vice
arend: the bolday towards venereal diseases and “oilition
for their affective traitinent.
The Rt.llon.J. 1. Thomas,
Yours sincerely,
I. a tranvedon
