(7.) The Certificate of Registry of every Colonial ship shall be produced once at least every 6 months to the Harbour Master, who shall indorse the date of such pro- duction thereon. On failure of such production, such certificate may be forfeited, unless satisfactory cause for such non-production is shown to the Harbour Master.
(9.) The British flag may be used on board of any ship lawfully possessing a Certificate of Colonial Regis- try under this Ordinance.
(10.) Any change of ownership in any Colonial ship shall render her registry null and void, and the Certi- ficate shall be at once delivered up to the Registrar of Shipping; and any change of master shall be indorsed upon the Certificate by the Harbour Master.
(12.) No Colonial ship, exceeding 60 tons shall carry more than 12 passengers for hire, unless she is provided
If not with a Passenger Certificate under section 10. exceeding 60 tons, she shall not carry any passengers for hire, unless she is provided with a licence from the
Harbour Master under section 37.
(14.) Any Certificate of Colonial Registry granted under this section shall be in force and effect for one year from the date of such certificate, and no longer, and such certificate shall be renewable by indorsement on the same by the Registrar of Shipping: Provided always that, whether the certificate is intended to be renewed or not, it shall be delivered into the custody of the Registrar of Shipping 5 days before the expiration of the year for which it has been granted or, in the event of the registered ship being at sea, then on her return to the Colony. The owner, agent, or master of any such ship neglecting to comply with the requirements of this sub-section shall be liable to a fine not exceeding 500 dollars.

4. (1.) The name of a master, first, only, or second mate, or first or second engineer shall not be attached to the register or articles of agreement of British or Colonial ship, unless such master, mate, or engineer possesses a Certificate of service or competency granted in the United Kingdom under The Merchant Shipping Acts, or a Colonial Certificate of Competency declared by Order-in-Council to be of the same force as if it had been granted under the said Acts.

Officers of British ship Colonial ship exceeding 60 tons and Foreign ship
(2.) Every British ship and every Colonial ship Certificated exceeding 60 tons, and every Foreign ship holding a Passenger Certificate under section 10 shall, when leaving any Port of the Colony, be provided with officers who possess valid certificates of competency of a grade appropriate to their stations in the ship or of a higher grade, according to the following scale :-
(a) in any case, with a duly certificated master; (b) if the ship is of 100 tons or upwards, with at least one officer besides the master holding a certificate not lower than that of only mate, or of second mate in the case of a sailing ship of not more than 200 tons, or of mate of a river steamer, in the case of a river steamer:
(e) if the ship carries more than one mate, with at least the first and second mate duly certi- ficated;
(d) if the ship is a steamship of 100 nominal horse-power or upwards, with at least two engineers, one of whom shall be a first class and the other a first class or second class engineer duly certificated; and,
() if the ship is a steamship of less than 100 nominal horse-power, with at least one engineer who is a first class or second class engineer duly certificated.
