I have the honour to enclose all the communications for your reference in regard to my British Registration.

I do not know what did I offend to Consul of Swatow or some one is against me in the Consulate, so that, I am failed to get an answer in favourable of my British Registra-

tion.

I beg you humbly to see if you can help me to get this matter settled by the Swatow Consul at your earliest

convenience.

I am anxiously waiting your answer to this matter as I am now in a dangerous position in China without nationality and have been fined seven hundred dollars and other expenses by the Chinese Government for guilty of my deceiving them with my nationality and may be have a heavier state by and by.

Your favourable prompt reply on the matter will be
