Union Church,

Owing to the increasing number of residents
on the peninsula at Kowloon it has for some time been the impression of the Minister and Committee of the above Church that it is desirable to build a Church there for worship according to the principles which govern this Church.
This impression has received stimlus by an unsolicited offer from Sir C. F. Chater to donate the sum of
Fifty thousand dollars towards the erection of such a
building. The Committee of Management being aware that in the past the Government of this Colony has made generous
grants of land for similar objects, has instructed me to
submit to you a request that a site, of say 20,000 square
feet on the lot between Middle Road and Salisbury Road be
allotted to the Union Church of Victoria for the purpose of
erecting a Church building there.
