The Committee will note with interest the passing

of a Bye-law to provide for the removal of infectious cases to an approved place only.

Paragraph (IV) and Appendix Ę.

The Committee will be pleased to note the large increase in the number of floors cleaned, 150.938 in 1923 against 115.134 in 1921.

Births.

The large preponderance of male over female births

is interesting, 168 males to 100 female births.

Tuberculosis.

The number of deaths from this disease is con-

siderable, 13.56 of the total deaths registered.

Malaria.

The percentage of the total deaths from Malaria

is the highest for the last 10 years, namely 4.33 per cent.

Cerebro Spinal Fever.

The number of cases of this disease continue to

be small only 107 during the year.

Cholera.

The Committee will be pleased to note there were

no cases in the Colony during the year and only 1

imported one.

Typhoid.

The total number of cases of this disease is the

highest on record for the last 10 years, namely 302 against 100 in 1922, this is ascribed to the increase in the number of Chinese Medical men with training in
