5. The result of the investigation discloses a very gross breach of trust on the part of Messrs. Cable and Shard, and such Officers should henceforward cease to function as storekeepers, otherwise there will never be any stability. Perhaps Mr. Cable may be in a position to state firstly - why the morphine was removed from the Store without authority; secondly - For what purpose was it retained in the drawer of his writing table?
4. The attached medical stock statement prepared by Mr. Dallin, discloses several large deficiencies in stock. I am informed in connection with the large issues from stock, that between December 28th and January 16th, no less than 1,125 lbs = 6,752 yards of Lint alone was issued, which far exceeds in quantity any previous demands.

With reference to Mr. Dallin's report, paragraphs
9, I strongly recommend the following:-
A. New Stock Books to be opened.
B. More systematic control over the consumption of Stores,
C. Stock in the Dispensary not to exceed a week's demand.
D. More control over the issue of Medical Stores from
main Stock.
I shall be glad to be informed, in due course, as to what. action has been taken in the matter.
