No.6 in 191/1912.

Gentlemen,

Colonial Secretary's Office,

Hongkong,

3rd July, 1924.

82

Referring to your letter No.494 W/12178 of

the 17th December, 1922, 1 am directed to inform you that as reported in my telegram of the 27th June, Mr. R. N. H. Corner's agreement has been terminated with effect from the 4th June and he has been given a passage on the 5,5. "Merea" which left Hongkong on the 28th June, 1924,

Er. Corner proved himself to be entirely incompetent for the duties required of him and was unsatisfactory and unreliable in other respects. He was eventually admitted to the Government Civil Hospital suffering from alcoholic poisming and it was decided to dispense with his services,

Three surveyora were recently appointed in England and none of these have proved to be wholly satisfactory. I enclose for your information reports on their work by the Superintendent of Crown Lands and Survey and would be glad if you would consider the suggestion conveyed in the last paragraph of Mr. Reed's report,

I should be glad if a successor to Mr. Corner could be obtained and sent out as early as possible.

I

(sd.)

Cland Sevem,

Colenial Secretary,

The Crown Agents for the Celmies

LONDON.
