On receipt of his petition of 9th July, which has obviously been delayed to this date in order to give him an opportunity of demanding to be retained in office until the receipt of your reply, I referred the question of hie retirement to the Executive Council in accordance with Section 3 of Ordinance No.2 of 1862 as amended by Ordinance No.29 of 1917, and the Council unanimously advised that he should retire on the expiration of any vacation leave granted to him as from 16th August, 1924, He will accordingly be granted leave as from 16th August and in the event of his petition being granted, a course which I would strongly deprecate, he can return to duty, as he proposes in any case to remain in the Colony,
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient humble servant,
B.E. Stabbs.
