RTICULARS of the Office of 2nd Class Overseer....now vacant in the Colony of Hongkong
Juties of Office, and qualifications equired for their performance.
Second Class Overseer to supervise work in connection with Government Telegraphs and Telephones. Age 25 - 35. Applicant should have had Post Office or Military experience in telephone and telegraph construction and mainten- ance work, and be qualified to take out quantit- ies and prepare estimates of cost and must have had practical training as a telegraph mechanist, should be unmarried and of sound constitution.
Salary of Office.
Allowances, quarters, and other circumstances affecting the value of the Office.
2260 per annum rising by annual incrementa of £10 to £280 during the third year, and thereafter, in the event of the appointment being made permanent by further annual increment of £10 to a maximum of £300 or in the event of promotion to First Class Overseer to a maximum of £360, The increases specified are dependent upon the proper performance of his duties in the meantime.
Salary payable in dollars in accordance with General Orders. A deduction of 4% is made from the salaries of all officers as a contribution towards the pensions of widows and orphans of public officers.
Conveyance allowance in accordance with General Orders. Free partially furnished quarters if available, or an allowance in lieu thereof in accordance with General Orders.
Nature, number, and amount of securities required, and mode of giving them.
Whether free passage is provided
for the person selected and his family.
Acte, laws or ordinances making provision respecting any of the above matters, and especially ros pecting the permanency of the emoluments, and the particulars of the security required, with refer- ences to the sections in which such provision is made.
Whether house accommodation is available or readily procurable, whether furniture, etc., should he brought from England, and any other particulars of a. like nature likely to be useful for the inform- ation of candidates.

House accommodation is not readily procurable but a single man has generally no difficulty in procuring accom- modation in a hotel, boarding house or mess. can be obtained in the Colony.
