Referring to my despatch No.60 of the 21st

February, 1924, I have the honour to inform you that I have

granted permission to Mr. E, A, Irving, Director of

Education, to retire from the service on the ground of ill-

health on the expiration of his vacation leave on 23rd July,

2219 July 15 1924.

Mr. Irving was transferred to the service

of this Government from the Federated Malay States on the

24th April, 1901 and his pension is therefore payable by

the two Governments in proportion to the total emoluments drawn by him in each Colony.

I enclose a statement prepared by the Treasurer together with a letter and statement from the Government of the Federated Malay States. A draft pension paper is also enclosed,

If Mr. Irving elects to continue his

contribution to Widows and Orphans' Pension on basis of

his retiring salary his prospective widow's pension is as

follows:-
