NOTES ON RECONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS FCK THE CLASS 1 GROUP.
1. qualifying Examinations for the Class 1 group of situations (Home Civil service, Class 1, Indian Civil Service,Colonial) will be held on the 30th arch and the 21st October, 1920. Applications from candidates wishing to be admitted to these examinations must be re- ceived not later than the 30th January and the 30th June,1920, re-
spectively.
2. The normal recruitinent of the Home Civil Service,Clacs 1,by means of open competitive examinations will be resumed in the year 1921; the regulations for this examination are now ready and can be had on application to the Secretary. While only one attempt under the Recon- struction system is allowed, such an attempt will not prevent the candidature under the normal system of a man other ise eligible.

3. the regulation about Second Class Honours refers to normal condi- tions, and a candidate will not be a..cluded for taking an ordinary degree since the Armistice provided he produces evidence that in norm al circumstances he could reasonably have expected to obtain at least Second Class Honours.
4. Some indication of the nature of the examination may be obtained from the Reprint of the question Papers used at the examination of the 15th April,1919, hich are published at His lajesty's Etationery Office at Imperial House, Kingoway, London, V.C., and other addresses. 5. The Civil Service Commissioners are prepared to allow a candidate for the Home Civil Service, Class 1 to postpone his appearance at the qualifying examination and before the Selection Board for the purpose of studying at a University or other place of equal rank, and their sanction is hereby conveyed to candidates who have made or
