With reference to your letter of the 26th of
August last, concerning the gratuities to former employees of the British Postal Agencies in China, I am directed by the Postmaster General to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State
for the Colonies, that the matter is under the
consideration of the Treasury. As soon as the decision of that Department is known it shall be communicated
to you.
