My Lord Duke,
With reference to Your Grace's despatch No.92 of the 25th of April, 1923, I have the honour to state that shortly after arrival in Hongkong, Miss M. J. Munro, Assistant Mistress, Education Department, was advised by one of the Government Medical Officers to undergo dental treatment, and the Government Dentist on seeing her deemed it necessary to extract a considerable number of her teeth as a preliminary to further treatment.
It is obviously desirable that work of this
nature should be done before officers leave England and
I would venture to suggest that an examination of the teeth
of all candidates for Government employment should be
regarded as part of the medical examination prior to selection if this is not already the practice.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord Duke,
Your Grace's most obedient
humble servent,
7. E. Stebts.
Governor, &c.

THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE, K.G..
