I am directed by the Duke of Devonshire to
inform you that, subject to your being passed by the
Kedical Adviser of this Department as physically fit
for service, he proposes to select you for
prob. tionary anpointment as an Assistant Mistress in
the Education Department of Hong Kong, with salary
at the rate of £300 a year, rising by annual
increments of £20 to £340 a ye.r. Free quarters are
not provided. If quarters are provided by Government
a deduction of 65 will be made from your salary. If
Government quarters are not provided you will be
granted a house allowance of "50 per month.
2. It is to be understood that your encoproment
is for not more than three years from 'he date of your
arrival in the Colony; and that, if it is
established to the antisfaction of the Governor that
