Hampstead.

October 1917.

Miss Galóraith has attended my lectures and classes for the past

cabraith

three years, while preparing to take Final Honours in English Language

and Literature in the University of London.

During this time she has worked at Old English, Middle English,

Germanic Philology and she has gained a sound knowledge of these subjects.

She has also read some Icelandic Literatur, although it was not included

in her syllabus.

She has always shown distinct linguistic ability. She not only

works conscientiously and throughly which many students do, but she

has really mastered true scientific methods and shows adaptibility

and imagination in dealing with a difficult subject such as Middle

Inglish, or Hstorical Grammar,

In any clse, she is absolutely capable of teaching English

Language to the standard of the Pass B.A., or higher if she chose to

continue her work in the subject,

I am sure she will teach well.
