Colonies sees no objection, that Sir R. Stubbs should be
requested to settle the amount in consultation with His
Majesty's Consul-General at Shanghai.

Finally, the Secretary of State agrees that it
would be well to introduce a provision into the new China
Order in Council dealing specifically with the question of
the Company fees payable in China under the Hongkong
Ordinances, and Sir R. Macleay is being instructed by
telegraph to sulmit, after consultation with the Judge
and the Registrar of Companies at Shanghai, a draft
amendment in this sense.
