ith reference to your letter No.5128/1922-23 of the 6th instant, I am directed by the Secretary of tete for Foreign Affairs to state that, & the Duke of Devonshire will be aware from recent correspondence, the Jirlomatic
Body at Feking in Cetober last considered the question of
the Embargo on the export of arms and munitions of war to China and agreed upon certain recommendations which were to be forwarded to the respective governments for adoption. It is therefore ho1 that the policy of all the governments represented at Feling (of whom the Geman Governant ir of
course one), in regard to the arms bergo, will t
shortly be brought into line.

I an to add that steps are being taken through Lie
Majesty's Albera lor at Berlin to ascertain wither the
German Government are prepared to adort and enforce the
recomendations of the iplomatie Body.
