one half of the cost of constructing the hall for the
Ellis Kadoorie School there is roughly estimated at two
thousand pounds.

It would seem desirable that Sir E. Kadoorie's
known wishes as regards the Assembly Hall should be carried
out, and the Secretary of State proposes, with the
concurrence of the Duke of Devonshire, to instrat His Majesty's Consul-General at S ́anghai to represent Fis Majesty's Government both as regards any action that may be necessary at Shanghai in accepting the bequest and
with a view to joining with the other interested parties
in consenting to give effect by the executors to the
promise made by Sir Ellis Kadoorie to defray half the cost of the construction of the Assembly Hall,
