With reference to your telegram of December 11th.
Please ask to be shown my telegram of 11th December to Consul- General at Canton, embodying the text of a letter from the Deyen Diplomatic Corps to him containing the latter's reply te the Government of Canton's claim for a share in the Customs
surplus.
This answer makes it clear that there can be no intervention by the Mpletic Body in the matter.
His Majesty's Government in concert with the other powers concerned are determined to protect the Canton Customs from interference but Sun Tat Sen's assumption that in oppos- ing the threatened action His Majesty's Government are taking
the lead is unwarrantable.
Na forcible action will be taken by the powers unless and until Dr. Sun seizes or otherwise interferes with
the Customs.
I am dealing furkkur fully with this and other points referred to in your telegram in a private letter.
