Sir,

April 23rd., 1923.

130

We desire to draw your attention to the

following case,

▲ visitor to the Colony was recently advised

by a local practitioner that an operation for appendicitis Was necessary. The operation was performed a few days later in the Goverment Civil Hospital free of charge. He was able to afford a fee.

As we are taxed for the right to practise in this Colony, we do not think Colonial Medical Officers should be allowed to conduct a parallel service, except under the same conditions as to fees and taxation as are imposed on ourselves.

We are,

Yours faithfully,

(Signed) Jordan, Forsyth, Grove & Aubrey.

Dalmahoy Allan, Strahan & Thomas.

Harston, Black, Balean & Koch.

To the

Colonial Secretary,

Hongkong.
