GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
7th May, 1923.
My Lord Duke,
With reference to Your Grace's despatch No.61 of the 19th March, 1923, I have the honour to forward a cop of Mr. J. Ingham's application to be allowed to retire on pension dated January 21st 1922. It will be observed that it makes no mention of ill health. It was not until the month of April that, realising that he would be required to pay a proportion of the cost of passages, Kr. Ingham applie to go before a Medical Board and submitted a statement as to his recent illnesses, a copy of which is attached. I enclose also a copy of his Medical History Sheet which shows that he has had a generally healthy career. The Medical Officer in charge states that Kr. Ingham suffered from chronic pharyngitis but that he does not think that a Medical board would have invalided him,
Inspector Pitt, to whom reference is made in Mr. King's letter, was invalided from the service on account of ill health and full passages were therefore granted to him,
As regards the question of boot allowance,
Mr. Ingham was offered $2.40 which was the sum due for the proportion of the year prior to his departure but he declined
