My Lord Duke,
With reference to Mr. Bonar Law's despatch No.147 of the 15th June, 1916, I have the honour to inform Your Grace that it has come to my knowledge that owing to
a complete breakdown in health Miss Barrow is unable to earn anything to supplement her pension and is in very straightene circumstances.
Miss Barrow's pension is £37. 10. 0 per annum plus temporary increase of 25%, making a total of £46. 17. 6.
. I am informed that Homes are maintained by some of the London Hospitals for nurses who through ill health cannot do further work and from lack of means are unable to support themselves.
4. Miss Barrow was trained at St. George's Hospital and was afterwards on the staff there until she left to join the nursing staff in this Colony. Possibly therefore arrangements could be made for her to be admitted to such an institution.
j ́If this could be done, I feel sure that the Unofficial Members of the Legislative Council would agree
