The local military authorities have now reported that the Colonial Government would agree in consideration of an immediate and final settlement to a 10% increase in the values previously agreed on locally. The General Officer Commanding advocates acceptance.
REPROVISIONING The War Office hold that, as the surrender of present lands and transfer of garrison to other lands is to suit the commercial needs of the Colony, the total cost of providing alternative accommodation must be a charge on the Colonial Government.
The Colonial Government say that they will provide the necessary sites, but their total liability for reprovisioning (including buildings etc) must be limited to the surrender value of the existing War Department lands, and beyond that they are liable to no further expense then their Defence Contribution of 20% of assessable Revenue,
