Mr.Cofine

I understand that authority

is required not only to write

off $16,014.28 in the Stores

Account but also to pay $5,783.74

to meet the deficiencies in the

Shore Guards Account ($5,121,71)

and in the Indian Family Remit-

tances ($662.03).

With reference to the state-

ment setting out the duties of

the individual members of the

staff of the Police Account.

Office I suggest that the

Accountant's duties should be

held to include the verification

of the actual receipt of stores

before the relative accounts

are passed for payment; and that

the Assistant Accountant and

Store Supervisor should be made responsible for seeing that all unserviceable stores are formal-

ly condemned by the Annual

Boards of Survey.

It would alsd

appear to be desirable, with regards to Confiscated Arms and

Ammunition, that, if possible,

the Magistrates should be

required to furnish to the

Police Department quarterly returns of confiscations which

the

MINUTES NOT TO BE WRITTEN ON THIS SIDE.

the Assistant Accountant should

chack against the actual receipts

into store.
