BUILDINGS AND EQUIPMENT.
The most pressing questions connected with buildings ant equipment are dealt with under the headings "Hostels" and "Engineering", and the only question of urgency here to be dealt with is that of Staff Quarters. The policy of the University has been to provide quarters for its staff, and the difficulty of obtaining accommodation in healthy surroundings and at reasonable cost in the neigh- bourhood of the University has shown the policy to have been a wise one. For this purpose the University site of some 25 acres, situate on a wooded hill-side looking out upon the harbour, is an ideal one, and there is reason to believe that other suitable land in the vicinity may become available later. When the new Rockefeller posts are filled, there will be a shortage of three or four bouses, which will grow with any further increase of the staff, and in case any proposing benefactor should definitely prefer that his generosity should take that form, the gift of a house or houses would be welcome, The present cost of a house is approximately $
The extension of the main buildings is, as already tated, a question which will only become an urgent one when the number of students rises above 500, and is here dealt with only as a part of the proble ins of the next ten years.
