thoroughly deserving of any promotion of the nature for which he Épplies which it may be found practicable to give him.
Unless the recanaration offered in a new
post is very much higher than that new received by
Dr.Finett I should like to have the opportuity of
making the Combined Court to make it worth his while
to stay here."
Governor Collet (in connection with his application
for the past of Surgeon General, 1.Guiana):- "Of all
the K.Cs. In the Colony 1 consider Dr.Vinett the best
fitted for the post."
Ún 8th April the Governor of l'auritius telegraphed 1-
"Balfour is likely to recommend Kinett from British Gulane for important appointment hers. Glad if you
would boar this in mind in connection with that officer's
imediate future."
And on 28th April Sir R.Ball tolographedz- "Balfour and I would be glad to know whether Confidential report on Winstt would justify his appointment as Head Medical Department hare where strong administrative ability required, Balfour considers him ezoellent from standpoint sanitation,"
Un receipt of this further telegram the Governor of British Guiana van asked by talagraph!= "Do you definitely recommend Minatt for the post of Sury;eon General if the vacancy should occur? Is he a good
