endeavoured to meet their wishes so far as is practicable

in the present stato of wireless science. ith this

object in view, we recommand that the ritish and Indian stations

should be doubled in power, We are advised that stations of

such strength would be capable of neintaining direct coma?i- dation between India and England for a reasonable number of houzo aach day, and that a service could be maintained with Australia through India when direct o^maunication between Ingland and

Australia was interrupted.

5. We ars live to the imperative accessity of not

increasing the financial dem.nás made upon the Imperial Govern-

went, and in the prsals we now put forward there would be a

reduction not only in capital expenditure but also of the annual

charges.

6.

In their telegram cf the 12th Navamber, 1921, the Government of India suggested that the Imperial Government should finance

the construction of the Indian station, or failing that, that the work should be carried out by rivate enterprise.

In view of the desirability of voicing dual control in

the station forming the central link in the Imperial Jhain, we

are of opinion that it is of vital importance that te station

in India should be constructed and operated by Government.

As the Government of India are unable at present to provide

the necessary funds, vo resourond that the onstruction of the

station in India should be undertaken by the Imperial Government

and that the station should be operated by the Government of India.

ve suggest that the Government of India be requested to undertake

to repay the original cost of the Indian station as and

When the service became remunerative, which should be within

a few years.
