IMPERIAL WIRELESS COLLUNICATIONS - WIRELESS OKAIN STATIONS.
MEETING OF 30TH MARCH. 1922.

The Imperial Communications Committee having been
specially summoned to consider and make recommendations
ing the present position of the Imperial Wireless Chain, cul%
the following mencrandu in which Postmaster-General who was
prepent at the meeting has expressed his concurrence,
MEMORANDUM,
We have had before us a telegram dated 3rd March from the
Government, of Inėje in which they state that they are definite-
ly unable to provide funds at present for the omstruction of
the Indian station of the Imperial Wireless Chain and they put
forward the proposal that the service should be entrusted to a
Dommercial oempary which would be required to bind itself to
erect and operete the Imperial Wireless station in India.
We have also baɛn informed that the Government of
Australia has granted to a private company a contract to establish and operate all wireless staticns in Australie, and
for direct wireless ccarnication between Australia and Grset
Britain.
2. In these circumstarees it is necessary, while maintaining the principle of Imperial Wireless Communications which was
approved by His bajesty's Government and by the Imperial Meetings in 1991, a/l which was resensidered by the Imperial Communica ticas Ocamitthe at the request of the Cabinet and e-
affirmed by thom to make cartein changes in the scheme as
now approved.

Both the Governmenta of India and iustralia are
desircus that their stations shall form, part of the Imperial Wireless Chain, and they are anxious that communication with England should be direct, without interposition of
intermediate stations..
