I am directed by the Controller to refer to this
Department's letter X 2323/6 of the 21st December, in
reply to your letter, 54475/21 of the 17th November,
on the subject of the enquiry by the Governor of Hong
Kong in connexion with paragraph 10 of the Annex to
Section III of the Treaty of Versailles, and to expresE
regret that in the final sentence of paragraph 2 it
was inadvertently stated that the interest referred to
is at the rate of 5% of the amount in question and not
at 5% per annum. The intention of the Treaty is of
course that the fine shall be assessed at the rate of
5% per annum.
