General Kirkpatrick, who is now in London, during
a visit to War Office stated, with reference to reports
of the general strike at Hong Kong, that he thought the military security of Hong Kong was very seriously
threatened by the movement.
Only
the political aspect is dealt with by the
reports received hitherto by the Colonial Office,
Please send at once a full expression of your views from
the military standpoint, and any intelligence you have
as to the prospect of South Chinese troops collaborating
with the strikers and threatening an attack on the
frontier.
Any measures you are taking, or may take, in
consequence of the situation should also be reported.
