My dear Stubbs,

Grindle would like to have a talk with you

about certain matters arising out of the strike at Hong Kong, if you can manage to be in London in the

last week of August.

2. He is on leave at present but returns on

the 23rd.

3. We gather that you were not altogether

satisfied with the way that Jammieson managed things at

Canton, and Wellesley of the Foreign Office is anxious

to get your ideas about a closer and more satisfactory co-operation between Hong Kong and the Consul-Ceneral

at Canton, before you go back.

4.

We can, however, fix up a discussion with

Wellesley
