BLUEJACKETS LAND IN

TIENTSIN, MAY 28, Bluejackets from the British cruiser Curlew landed at Chinwangtao and Pej. taiho to-day to protect British lives and interests.

TIENTSIN, MAY 25. Passengers who arrived here last night by the international train from Mukden report that Chang Tso-lin has removed the freight cars and locomotives stand. dis- ling at Chinwangtao Station and
armed the local police. The British resi- dente thereupon requested the Com mander of the Bluebell to disembark Bluejackets for their protection.
The Manchurian forces are digging trenches in the hills westward of Shan.! haikwan.
Foreign nationals at present stopping. at Paitaiho are also appealing for the dispatch of a warship. Grave appre- | hensions are entertained owing to the presence of the Manchurians, Peitaiho and Chinwangtao being within easy s distance of Shanhaikwan.

The news that Chang Tso-lin's forces are interfering with the police and terrorizing the inhabitants in the neigh bourhood of Shanhaikwan, Chinwangtao, and Peitsiho is of particular interest to named is the foreigners.
