9. Our reply, therefore, to question (a) is that the reclamation if carried out should be treated and developed as a reclamation of ordinary type.

We gather from the papers that the Government is practically committed to carry out the proposed reclamation and to construct the road, Also that the material to be excavated in forming the road has to be disposed of and is of sufficient quantity to form the rubble mound required to retain the reclamation.

12. Having regard to our remarks in dealing with question (&), we would recommend that if the reclamation be proceeded with, an ordinary rubble bank, should be carried out to retain the reclamation material, generally

as shown on the Drawings, but that in lieu of a vertical wall above low water level, a pitched alope should be provided somewhat after the manner of that at Mongkotaui Breakwater. If shallow wharfing is considered necessary

it could be added in reinforced concrete, as it appears

is now being done in connection with the Reclamation M.L.

430 and 431, which, however, is in a more protected

situation. If, as is suggested, e portion of the area to

be reclaimed is appropriated for Government repair work-

shops, it could no doubt be arranged in connection there-
