The effect of this decision is as stated in your letter under reply, with this exception, that an officer previously holding the rank of Divisional Commissioner in the koyal Irish Constabulary may only receive so much of his compensation allowance as together with the pay received by him in the Palestine Gendarmerie will make up an amount equal to the maximum pay of a County Inspector in the Royal Irish Constabulary, namely £900 per annum.
