THE DARDANELLES ANXIETY.
London, Sept. 29.
The gloomiest view of the Near East situation is everywhere thread is borne apparent. The opinion that peace hangs by a out by the declaration of a prominent member of the Government last night that the position in the Dardanelles area and in Con- stantinople could not be worse.

The question of the continued severe depression in the Lanca- shire cotton trade was discussed at a Manchester meeting of re- presentatives of over 50% of spinning companies. The leading spinners pointed out that most concerns were gradually losing their capital and oply immediate drastic action could avert a financial crisis.
