H. B. M. Postal Agent,
A telegram from the Secretary to the General Post Office, London, of the 12th July states that "it has been definitely decided that the British Agencies, with the exception of Wei Hai Wei, will be closed before the end of this year."
The General Post Office will make the
necessary announcement to the International Bureau.
DESPATCH OF MAILS TO AGENCIES.
Mails will be despatched from foreign
countries up to such date as will enable them to arrive
not later than the end of October.
Despatches of mails from London to Agencies
will cease on September 30th.
Hongkong will cease despatching mails to
Agencies on December 15th.
ISPATCH OF MAILS FROM AGENCIES.
Mails will be despatched from agencies
to all places, excluding other agencies in China, up to
30th December. Mails from Agency to Agency will cease
on the 15th December.
Trade Charges on Parcels will not be
accepted after 1st August.
Local Postal Notes will be cashed up to
30th December,
Local Postal Notes will not be issued
payable at another Agency after December 15th but they
may be issued payable in Hongkong up to 30th December.
