tional Bank, About noon on February 24th. I was on my way from my bank to Messrs. Butterfield & Swire's. I had just turned the corner of Wardley Street when I saw a man running up towards me with a crowd chasing him. I heard the crowd
calling in Chinese 'Stop him". I saw no-one between my self and the man being chased. I stood back just round the corner of the Shanghai Bank in Queen's Road, As the run, away turned the corner I hit him with my fist in the face. I recognise defendant as that man. It was he whom I hit. He fell down in Wardley Street. I held him on the ground. He struggled
a little. He got up again and pulled me into Queen's Road.
