sir,
I have the honour to inform you that an application is about to be made to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, for special leave to appeal, on behalf
of one Leung Wo who was convicted of murder and sentenced
to death at the Criminal Sessions on the 23rd March, I have
respited the execution of the sentence, in the first place for a period of three months from the date of the sentence in order to enable the above application to be made, and, should leave be given, until His Majesty's pleasure be
known.
2. If special leave be granted, I would request
that solicitors be instructed and counsel retained at once. In any case, I shall be obliged if you will let me know by telegraph the result of the prisoner's application.
3. I would ask that this despatch may be
substituted for my despatch No.169 of the 22nd April.
